Do you need help to pass your GED® Social Studies Test?
The GED® Social Studies test focuses on four major content areas:
- Civics and government (50%)
- United States history (20%)
- Economics (15%)
- Geography and the world (15%)
When preparing for your Social Studies test, you will learn how to apply American social studies concepts, how to read graphs and charts displaying social studies data, and how to use reasoning to interpret information.

To enrol with Learnalot for the Social Studies online offering, you will need to already have an active Essential Education GED Academy license. If you do not have an active license as yet, you can contact one of the GED Authorised Education Partners to purchase a license.
Registrations are open throughout the year.
Following registration with Learnalot, lessons will start at the beginning of the following month, February through to November. The timetable will take into account school holidays.
With Learnalot, you have the flexibility to prepare for your GED Social Studies online with our online learning platform, together with the weekly small group online lessons and support from our highly experienced tutors. Write the GED® Social Studies test when you are ready, at one of the 45 testing centres around South Africa.
The minimum testing age in South Africa, Namibia and Kenya is 17 years old. A student can register a GED profile on ged.com from the age of 16 years. Any student who has a GED profile under the age of 18 years will need to complete and return a parental consent form. This is standard GED policy.
*SAQA (the South African Qualifications Authority) has evaluated the GED® and found the National Senior Certificate as its closest comparable qualification. There is no guarantee that a GED® graduate will be granted exemption from USAf, nor that a university will accept his/her application. More information about GED South Africa.
