Using Interviews to Promote your Course
20 May 2020
Interviews provide great content for your course, giving your students the opportunity to hear some ‘expert’ advice besides yours. Interviews also provide excellent content for course promotion.
As with anything education and training related, you don’t want to be seen as actively selling your own course. Rather you want to promote the knowledge that will be attained through your course and the benefits to students. Interviews provide the perfect content for this. From using snippets of information, to quotes, to the whole interview, you can create a library of social media posts, blogs as well as excellent course content.
When preparing and conducting the interview, keep in mind the four main principles of interviews:
- Prepare carefully, familiarising yourself with as much background as possible.
- Establish a relationship that is conducive to obtaining information.
- Ask questions that are relevant and that induce the source to talk. Ask open-ended questions, such as how did you start, what advice would you give someone starting out, etc.
- Listen and watch attentively.
