Keep Online Learning Videos Short and Sweet
27 April 2020
We tend to create learning videos that are long and cover multiple topics. These long videos can often result in students becoming bored, lose interest and become overwhelmed.
Reminding ourselves that online courses are to impart knowledge or teach a new skill, each video should be short and only cover one concept or topic at a time. It is recommended that each video is only 3-5 minutes per video, followed by an assessment or task to apply the knowledge or skill acquired from the short video.
In today’s busy lifestyles, online courses will always be competing for time with other activities. Through designing your course into shorter sections, whereby a particular topic or concept can be learnt between other activities helps with students being able to fit it in and they are therefore more likely to complete it than if they had to sit down and dedicate several hours to the course in one go.
Once your course has been created, you need to find an online platform on which to deliver your course. COL Campus is an online learning management system that has specifically been designed to deliver online courses, regardless of the type of course, course content and student.
Now, you are nearly ready to launch your course, you need a catchy course title now. How do you decide on one? Keep an eye out for our next set of online course tips.
