Keep Students Engaged
20 April 2020
When you keep students engaged, you are keeping them motivated and increasing the chances of them completing your course.
How do you keep students engaged? You need to make the students feel invested in their own development of knowledge and skills through ongoing achievements. This is done through ongoing mini-assessments or tasks. These mini-assessments or tasks will serve two purposes. Firstly, to check that a student has understood each concept taught and secondly, the issuing of results from the mini-achievements and tasks will serve as ongoing feedback and therefore provide students with the much-needed sense of achievement.
If you create your course with longevity in mind, you can create the mini-assessments or tasks to be assessed / marked automatically with automated feedback provided to each student based on their individual answers and results. This will reduce your long-term workload, while still serving the purpose of keeping your students engaged and motivated.
